Below, you'll find a video showcasing my art deco-inspired game: 'Bebop Runner' which I created for the final module of my second year at uni. The game is a 2D platformer that I created using Blender and Unity.
In 'Bebop Runner,' I introduced a unique gameplay mechanic where there is only one repeating level, but with intriguing variations. These changes range from altered control, inverted gravity, and moving the location of the button and crates to make the game harder. The limited time frame within which I developed this game challenged my creativity, but I'm immensely pleased with the outcome.
Given more time, I envision expanding this concept to create even more weird levels and make it so that the player can uncover a hidden world. The game's name, 'Bebop Runner,' pays homage to bebop jazz, a central theme in the game. I take great pride in how the game's audio complements this theme, particularly the cymbal crash sound that happens when the player dies from running out of time.
